The Paddock Arcade is a 19th-century shopping mall located on the downtown square in Watertown, New York. Built in 1850, it is the second oldest covered shopping mall in the United States. Since it has seen uninterrupted use after opening in 1850, it carries the distinction of being the country’s oldest, continuously operating enclosed shopping mall.
When it was recently renovated by it’s new owners Jake Johnson and Bobby Ferris, a part of the plan and rejuvenated look of the ageless building included branding the structure with it’s over 100 year old name, which was simply derived from the streets in which it connects, Paddock and Arcade Streets, while the building itself was originally named for John Paddock, the early Watertown pioneer and older brother of Loveland Paddock, who erected it shortly after the great fire of 1849.
Johnson and Ferris wished to bring back a part of the buildings rich history by installing 30″ tall brushed aluminum fabricated letters along the top of its fourth story, this time including LED halo lighting. Our team also custom built and installed aluminum flag style tennant ID signs, with a satin powder coat finish and removable faces to accommodate easy swaps for new tennants.
